The real strength of this pedigree lies in his dam, Karuta Queen, one of the most accomplished mares of her generation. A winner of more than $1.8 million in prize money, Karuta Queen captured the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, the Listed Heritage Stakes and the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes, while also recording multiple Group placings throughout her outstanding racing career.
Importantly, she has continued that success as a broodmare. Her progeny include stakes winner Eawase along with stakes performers Bezique and Sensical, proving her ability to consistently produce quality runners.
Physically, this colt impressed us from the outset. Ciaron felt he was very much in the mould of Dubious, possessing an athletic frame and a big, loose walk that suggests both efficiency and athleticism. He has the scope, movement and overall quality that give us confidence he can develop into a very nice racehorse.
With an elite-producing mare, a proven young sire and a physique that immediately stood out during inspections, this colt has all the ingredients to be a very exciting racing prospect.
Training & Development
This colt is by Pierata, a son of Champion Sire Pierro and one of the most exciting young stallions in the country. A winner of the Group 1 All Aged Stakes and more than $5.8 million in prize money, Pierata was renowned for his toughness, consistency and elite sprinting ability. Those same traits are beginning to emerge in his progeny, who continue to perform strongly across Australia.
The dam side is where this pedigree truly shines. His dam, Karuta Queen, was one of the most accomplished juvenile fillies of her generation and went on to earn more than $1.8 million in prize money. Her outstanding race record included victory in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, the Listed Heritage Stakes and the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes, along with multiple Group placings against elite opposition.
Karuta Queen has successfully transferred that talent to the breeding barn. She is already the dam of stakes winner Eawase and stakes performers Bezique and Sensical, giving this colt the benefit of a proven black-type producing mare. Few pedigrees offer the confidence that comes from a mare who has both performed at the highest level herself and consistently produced quality runners.
