This bay colt is a high-quality son of Champion 2YO Sword of State, one of the most precocious and accomplished juveniles to race in New Zealand in recent times. A son of Snitzel, Sword of State recorded four stakes victories at two, highlighted by the G1 ARC Diamond Stakes, and was crowned Champion 2YO of the 2020–21 season. The colt is the first foal of Florencenightngale, a winning New Zealand performer by Rip Van Winkle (Ire). She is a three-quarter sister to Group 3 winner EURO ANGEL, herself the dam of multiple Group winner MR MOZART, a son of Snitzel. This creates a highly relevant reinforcement of the sire line, with Snitzel proving effective when crossed with this exact female family, adding depth and credibility to the pedigree.

The second dam, Reigning Dynasty, is a half-sister to a remarkable group of elite performers, including LEEBAZ, a dual Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed performer with earnings exceeding $1 million, POLISH KNIGHT, winner of the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes, and runner-up in the Group 1 Australian Derby, ZEBROWSKI, a multiple Group winner in Hong Kong and Group 1-placed, and EURO ANGEL.
