How ownership works

Racehorse ownership is typically structured through shared ownership, where individuals or groups own a percentage of a horse. This allows you to be involved at a level that suits you.

What is ownership?

Racehorse ownership means owning a share in a horse that is trained, cared for and campaigned by CMR. You become part of the team behind that horse - sharing in the experience, the wins, the journey, and the story as it unfolds. Ownership connects you directly to the sport, from training track to race day.

Who is it for?

Ownership is for anyone who loves racing and wants to experience it from the inside.

That might be:
‍

  • First-time owners curious about getting involved
  • Existing owners expanding their portfolio
  • Friends, families or business groups
  • Corporate and hospitality groups
    ‍

You can own a small share or a larger percentage, whatever suits your goals and level of involvement.

How does it work?

The process is simple and guided by our team:
‍

  • We match you with an ownership opportunity that suits your goals
  • Your share is set up and registered
  • Your horse enters training with CMR
  • You receive regular updates, insights, media and invitations to race days and events
    ‍

Throughout the journey, our team supports you with clear communication, expert advice, and industry-leading owner experiences.

Pricing and availability are discussed privately to ensure suitability.

Why we Like this Horse

Tyrrhenian Thunder is a lightly raced, progressive three-year-old who produced an outstanding figure at his latest start, overcoming greenness to defeat a more experienced rival after a four-month break between runs. The strength of that form is further highlighted by the quality of his opposition, with the horse he beat having previously been regarded as a potential stakes performer.

“He’s very lightly raced but ran a huge figure the other day. It’s not everything, but it’s definitely a big part of it. He’s by Night Of Thunder, so we’re hoping he can progress over a mile once he gets down to Australia,” said Will Bourne.

The purchase was one of the most competitive of the sale, reflecting the team's confidence in his ability and untapped potential. Asked about the price, which was the second-highest of the sale as of Thursday afternoon, Will added, “I guess you have to pay when there’s low miles on the clock. Ciaron was on the phone, he’s amazingly across every single horse here, as well as all his own at home. He really liked this horse’s form."

Training & Development

Tyrrhenian Thunder remains a work in progress, with plenty of upside as he develops. Ground conditions will be worth monitoring, given his naturally quick cadence and shorter stride, but the team is optimistic he can continue to improve and progress over a mile in Australia.
